“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
― Ansel Adams

My home stomping grounds is the incredible West coast of the United States. I split my time between the snow capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the suburbs of the Bay Area.

I have been a professional photographer for over 5 years now and have been privileged to shoot all over the world. I love shooting portraits for the same reason I love shooting the remote, hard to get to places - the challenge to capture not just the outlines, but that sense of magic that people and places keep hidden within.

Early trips backpacking in the California wilderness sparked an immense passion for being in wild places and for documenting hidden secrets most people never see. My families support helped me shoot with National Geographic while still in high school, and enabling me to shoot internationally for the first time and to start my passion project - exploring and documenting the arctic. I want my photos capture the beauty of our fragile planet and promote conservation of the earth.

I plan a number of shooting trips through the year. In between trips I am lucky enough to have the ability to shoot my other love - people! In the age of Instagram many of my clients are willing to be experimental and are confident in front of the camera. But even still, many people feel very self conscious in front of a lens, and I love being able to help people relax, have fun and reveal their best selves!
